Self-tapping wire screw thread inserts offer a versatile and inexpensive method of putting stronger threads in wood and other fibrous materials.

The Heli-Coil® self-tapping insert is a helically wound coil of carbon steel wire, precision-formed to a diamond-shaped cross section. The outside of the coil has knife-like threads that tap themselves in to give maximum penetration into the wood fibers yet leave thick sections of wood between the threads for maximum strength.

This unique fastener opens more possibilities for flexibility in the design and manufacture of furniture and other wood products. Our self-tapping inserts afford an unprecedented combination of thread-wear protection and greatly improved joint strength in both face and end-grain installations.
