On Monday, April 2, Stanley Black & Decker completed the purchase of the industrial business of Nelson® Fastener Systems, which excludes Nelson’s automotive stud welding business. Established in 1939, Nelson® Fastener Systems is a market leader in industrial stud welding, specializing in fasteners and systems with applications in construction, industrial, power generation, truck, and aerospace.

Not only will we expand our reach within our existing verticals, but we will also have broader capabilities in construction and industrial stud welding that we have never had before.

In addition to welcoming more than 700 new associates to Stanley Black & Decker, this transaction adds several product lines and capabilities that complement the STANLEY® Engineered Fastening Industrial threaded product portfolio. These new products will enable the Engineered Fastening division to scale within existing vertical markets and enter new verticals such as construction and industrial stud welding. Additionally, Nelson’s robust U.S. service center and distribution network will provide broader coverage and better enable us to serve our customers’ needs.

“Nelson® Fastener Systems is a perfect fit for our Engineered Fastening Industrial portfolio,” says John Wyatt, President, STANLEY® Engineered Fastening. “Not only will we expand our reach within our existing verticals (like aerospace and infrastructure), but we will also have broader capabilities in construction and industrial stud welding that we have never had before.”

STANLEY® Engineered Fastening will be working to integrate the Nelson® business over the next several months.
